Do you think that social media has the potential to bring about real social change?

Yes, I believe that social media has the potential to bring real social change. There are many different things that it has allowed us to do. Social media allows us keep contact with people that are all over the world.  For example when the Colorado shooting happen the whole world found in the matter of 1 hour of after it happen. With the help of social media it was all over the news and even led to the actor of Batman to come visit the people who were injured at the movie premiere.

I believe sooner or later people will start looking at social media for their news rather than watching new on TV or the newspaper. The problem with getting news only off the TV and newspaper is that you have to wait till they have the time to release it, and  by the time they release it will be old news or ever body else would of already heard about it. The problem with getting news from the newspapers and TV is that everything is edited so the everyone can read it, so this mean that they might cut out leave out stuff that isn’t clean. With social media the full story can be posted without any cuts or any edits and this means that you’re getting the full story. This is a reason why social media has the potential to bring about real social change.

Lastly like social media sites like Facebook and Twitter are great for people to post stories and events that are happening around the world. I do not watch news on TV anymore because I can log on to with of these sites and find all the new that I need to know for that day and I know as much as my parents know when their watching news.

You don’t need to go to school to be a reporter , to post a story online all you need is a camera and  Facebook, Twitter or You Tube account.

social media increased or decreased quality of news and information ?

I believe that social media has both increased and decreased quality of news and information that comes out now than it did before anyone could just post information.  I believe that social media has made it easier people to put for information and news to be more readily accessible to people everywhere. So that we will get all different points of views. I do not think that it has increased or decreased the quality of it, it all depends where you are looking your news and information. For the big new networks like CNN,BBC,CTV,and CP24  social media has helped increased the quality. These networks they allow you to send picture and video to them and then they will put it on the news as soon as they get it. Before the help from social media, people would have to wait until the day after it happen to find out what happen, sometimes you would not have any pictures to go along with the story. Can now receive up to the minute news on you cell phones, TVs and on your tablet. But on the other hand social media decreased quality of news and information that is put out. Anybody can type something and say it is real. Lately I have seen posted on sites that said stars were dead but it was only a hoax this is an example of how the quality of news and information had declined in the past years. People can post random information online and one of the tops sites that you should be careful of is Wikipedia. Readers have to be sure the information is from a credible source. I believe that social media has it positives and its negatives to it just depends where you are looking for it  

How Social Media Fad or Revolution?

My perception on this topic, if social media is a fad or the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution? My view is that social media is the biggest shift since the Industrial Revolution and it will not be going away anytime in the near future. Before the industrial revolution the only ways you could get news is my reading a newspaper or by word of mouth. In these days you can get news just by looking at your cell phone. With all these social media sites it had became easier to share information around the world in almost seconds, unlike before when people would have to wait till it was printed or it was broadcasted on TV.

There are many social media sties out there for example   Face book, Twitter, and LinkedIn  just to name a few. Face book is way for people to check out other peoples life, who their dating to also to see where they have been, ways to share stories just by posting a picture, you can learn a lot about a person just by looking at their facebook page. Twitter is a next social media site, with this site it allows people to make status about whatever they want also as it is under 140 letters. You can also follow other people to see what their updating to status, mostly every famous people and news channel has it so you will never be out of date with news as long as you’re following the right people.  

Almost everyone has access to cell phone or computer. So anyone young and old , blind or deaf can stay informed with the latest breaking news just by someone posting something then someone passing it along either by word of mouth or by using an social media site  .This means that once someone posts information on a social media site it is able to be seen by almost everyone around the world.

I believe that social media will become more advanced as the years go by and the chances or it becoming a fad in highly unlikely
